F3 Cup completes 2012 calendar with Silverstone GP visit

08/03/2012 - The F3 Cup can confirm the championship will visit the Silverstone GP circuit, home of the British Formula One Grand Prix, this season.

08/03/2012 - The F3 Cup can confirm the championship will visit the Silverstone GP circuit, home of the British Formula One Grand Prix, for the penultimate meeting of the season.

The MSVR-run championship will head to the famous 3.6 mile Northamptonshire circuit on 21-22 September in conjunction with the Britcar 24 Hour meeting. The F3 Cup, which caters for Formula 3 cars built from 1980 - 2007, held a round at the venue last year, setting a record for the largest ever single seater entry for a race in the UK.

With 22 drivers already confirmed for 2012, the championship intends to break last year's record of 53 cars by sharing the grid with the Monoposto Championship once again. Last year's visit to the Silverstone GP circuit saw Aaron Steele claim two impressive victories.

MSVR Race Operations manager David Scott said: "Adding a third Grand Prix track to the F3 Cup 2012 calendar is great news. These competitors will race at three great F1 circuits with Silverstone GP being added to Brands Hatch GP and Spa Francorchamps.

"The stunning calendar for F3 Cup is now complete and we are just weeks away from the first race at Oulton Park International on Easter Monday."

The F3 Cup championship will begin its 18 race campaign at Oulton Park on Easter Monday alongside the British GT Championship.
