13/02/2012 - The F3 Cup Championship will be present at this week's MSVR Media Day at Brands Hatch on Tuesday 14 February, with cars representing the range of machinery due to race in the 2012 season. As well as gaining championship status, newer cars are now eligible to race.

James Simons will be present with his Stanbridge Motorsport-run Dallara F396 from 1996. The 28-year-old from Leighton Buzzard works as a race engineer when he isn't racing and has previously raced in BARC Formula Renault and Formula 4. Simons is the first driver to join the new 2012 F3 Cup Masters class for cars from 1981-1996.

Representing the turn of the 21st century will be seasoned racer Dave Karaskas, whose team will run a Dallara F300 in the Trophy class for 1997-2001 cars. The Briton is a confirmed fan of F3, having raced in the class for much of a career that started in the 1970s and includes a spell driving a Formula One Arrows and racing against Ayrton Senna in a Formula Ford.

James Cross' Dallara F304, built in 2004 and run by AW Tracksport, will also be at the event. The 27-year-old Newcastle Upon Tyne resident is entering his fourth season of racing and his first in single seaters, having graduated from Toyota MR2 racing as the 2011 champion.

Finally, reigning Monoposto champion Tristan Cliffe has traded in his 1998 vintage Toyota F3 car to a 2007 Dallara F307 that won the European F3 Open championship last year. The 30-year-old from Norwich and his Omicron Motorsport team will be hoping that this combination of winners will bring another championship. Tristan will be racing in the Cup class for 2002-2007 machinery and his new car will be unveiled at the event.

MSVR's Media Day is open to the public and runs from 9am to 5pm on Tuesday 14 February.
