28/10/12 - Norfolk-based team Omicron Motorsport clinched the inaugural F3 Cup Teams' Championship on home soil after a impressive display in the final two races of the season at Snetterton 300 today (28 October).
The Mulbarton outfit have proved to be the strongest of the five teams in this year's F3 Cup with consistent results throughout the year. The year culminated in the best way possible with two class wins for driver and team owner Tristan Cliffe and two solid results for team mate Tony Bishop.
Omicron Motorsport, who have been successful in the Monoposto Championship, stepped up to the F3 Cup in 2012 eager for a new challenge. After 18 races the team picked up the coveted Teams Championship showing the move paid off. They were presented with their award for a season of hard work by Trevor Carlin, head of the renowned Carlin outfit, which have secured several titles in British F3. (as pictured)
Martin Cliffe said: "It feels pretty good. Motor racing is a funny thing 90 percent of it is blood, sweat, tears, misery and writing cheques and then about five percent is quite good and this is the five per cent and lets hope it lasts. We need to be here next year."
Tristan Cliffe said: "Winning the Teams' Championship means a lot to me. We have put our heart and soul into this team and to be able to say we were the best team overall this year is a big thing. I don't know if we can get the number one on our cars next year but we'll see."
Omicron Motorsport are expected to return to the grid with a two car team for the 2013 season where they will aim to defend their title.
